Just a brief note of thanks to everyone who helped with Sunday's Reliability Ride, which was held in dreadful, gale force winds with rain as well.
And of course, Chapeau! to the 132 brave riders who took part in the ride, a little down on last year (167), but still a tremendous turnout when you take the weather into account. It was also pleasing to see a number of famous local riders taking part including Lizzie Deignan (who signed in as OCC), Jonny Brownlee (see above picture) and Adam Duggleby (GB Olympic tandem pilot), underlining their love for the series.
The cafe was once again a very popular and warm venue for the returning riders with wall-to-wall cakes (all home-made), sandwiches, tea, coffee and smiles. Jill, Ann and the team did a tremendous job again after nearly 2 dozen members (women and men) baked cakes.
All told, we had around 25 volunteers on the day, at the Buttercoss, in the café and on the road, to whom we’re always very grateful.
The ride made a profit of nearly £500 which is fantastic given the weather.
