The penultimate lap around the main Triangle course saw nine OCC members take on the clock. Despite the windy conditions, several riders posted seasons bests.
Fastest overall was James Allen with 30:00, but it was very close at the top with Robyn Clay a mere 6 seconds behind. With a 30:06, Robyn recorded a new women’s course record, besting Hannah Drewett’s previous record, set in 2017, by over a minute. Exceptional riding on the back of a very strong season for the club youngster.
Fastest on handicap was James Allen, receiving a maximum 10 points. With only one more lap of the Triangle and the 30mile event at Walshford to go, it remains very close at the top. Tom Broadley leads with 53 points, but five more riders are within 8 points of the win.
Next week’s event moves to an earlier start time of 7:15 from Arthington. The two following events have been taken out of the Triangle points, and are to be run as 2-Ups (see https://otleycycleclub.co.uk/2022/08/03/2-up-tt-competition/).
