Youth Junior Womens and U23 Race Team Update – 12 May 2022

Lincoln Grand Prix, Lincoln Zephyr* Robyn Clay digs deep and rides like the wind…. Takes an impressive OCCer 16th in a strong field on a tough course.
Here she is –
“I felt quite strong throughout the race. There was a few attacks but nothing stuck until the race winner went off solo on the last lap. The race was split up a bit every time we went up Michaelgate but usually came back together. On the final lap someone attacked and was off the front but still in sight and no one was chasing. I suspected someone like Jo Tindley would try catch her using the technical descent so I made sure to get to the front before then. Me and Jo broke off the front and chased her for a little bit but the bunch was chasing behind and gaining on us so we decided to ease off and catch our breath before Michaelgate. The final time up Michaelgate I was feeling strong but I got stuck behind someone and people were coming past, I managed to get past her near the top and then got round 5/6 other people and ended up coming 16th so I think I could have possibly got top 10 otherwise. Overall I’m very happy with how I raced, it was a great experience and I really enjoyed it. My highlight was successfully getting a bottle from my dad. “
Well done Robyn, terrific effort, very well done! Well done too, to former OCCer Lucy Ellmore in 15th place.

Here’s Nigel Hollyman –
Henry Hollyman and Oliver Peace raced at the Capernwray (Carnforth) Cat 2/3/4 Road Race.
It was a really tough, hard fought race. Oliver was riding really strongly early on at the front of the bunch until a loose saddle meant he had to pull out. It was hard luck as he was riding strongly. Henry battled on feeling the pace a bit trying to get his form, managing to cross the line in 18th.
