The denoument of a slightly erratic Triangle season took place over a Walshford/Boroughbridge, with the 30mile TT championship. A field of 11 made for an early start of two laps of the Red Wall course.
On the day Sam Ward posted a 1:05:02, and James Cullen posted a handicapped time of 1:11:16 to take the 30TT handicap.
Tom Broadley had already taken the Triangle series title, but the podium places were still tight. Tony Wild started the day in second, but with only a one point lead over Sheldon Howcroft. Sheldon put enough time into Tony on handicap today to overtake him to finish in second. However, slightly unexpectedly, Sam’s ride meant he jumped up from 6th to 3rd, and knocking Tony off the podium by 1/2 a point. A cruel finish to the competition for Tony!
As a bonus for Sam, we’ve identified that earlier in the season he broke the club 15mile TT record with a time of 32:10. Congratulations to him
Well done all who raced across the season, and congratulations to our winners.
I’d also like to offer a huge thanks to those who’ve made this event possible. Thank you to everyone who has marshalled during the year. Particular thanks to Tony Wild for helping set up the courses, John Barnett and Martin Tallontire for timekeeping, and a special shout out to John Churchman and Peter Yates who have enthusiastically marshalled or timekept at almost every event this year.
Here’s to as succesful a series next year.
