Goating around Lancashire

The mountain goat ride this week started in Skipton and used the well surfaced canal to get to Gargrave and from there a beautiful circuit on quiet roads to Bolton by Bowland. At the tiny cafe/shop, we met a cyclist taking a break at mile 57 on his epic ride from Sheffield to Ambleside…we had done just 18 miles at this point!

We continued round past Sawley, Downham Market (lovely café that is only open Monday – Friday) and then onto the long cycle highway past Pendle hill to the canal past Barnoldswick. After another tea stop, we continued back to Skipton.

A great hilly circuit, no massive hills, but plenty of undulations to keep us entertained and provide us with the views that we enjoy so much.

Next ride is on Wednesday evening from Otley. We need people to offer to host rides for the next few Saturdays, get in touch if you have an idea for a lovely hilly ride between 40 -55 miles for a mixed ability group.
