OCC / Chevin Cycles – Cycle Maintenance Event – Support the NHS

Otley Cycle Club and our sponsors Chevin Cycles Limited have got together to launch some events to help you get back in to cycling this summer. Following government roadmap announcements earlier this week we now have a better idea of the dates when we can see opportunities opening up for us to cycle together again. The earliest date that we can do this in groups would appear to be after 29th March 2021. Before that you can continue your local solo rides with the prospect of improving weather over the next few weeks and helping to maintain your cycling fitness.

Meanwhile, we would like to announce the OCC / Chevin Cycles Bike Maintenance event on ZOOM. This will be an opportunity to listen to the experts from the Chevin Cycles workshop taking about basic bike maintenance, guiding you on what simple checks you can make on your bike and how to fix issues. Join this call to learn some of the tricks of the trade which can help you make a roadside problem quick and easy to fix. This event will be on ZOOM on March 10th 2021 starting at 19:00. You can sign up using the eventbrite link below.

This invitation is being opened up to Otley Cycle Club members a few days ahead of the Chevin Cycles customer list – so sign up quickly to secure a place.

In addition, we know that many of our members appreciate the work and dedication that the NHS has put in to the health of our region over the past year and may like express their thanks and appreciation by contributing to an NHS charity. OCC and Chevin Cycles have been talking to Leeds Hospitals Charity (formerly Leeds Cares – you may remember them from the TdY sportive)  that support the NHS in the Leeds and West Yorkshire area. Otley is home to to one of the Leeds hospitals, Wharfedale Hospital, and many of our members work in the healthcare system or have used their services. When signing up for this event you will be offered the opportunity to support the NHS by donating to Leeds Hospitals Charity. Any donation, however small, will support their good work and be much appreciated.

Finally,  we will be organising other ZOOM and face to face events (e.g. nutrition) plus working with Leeds Hospitals Charity to establish a mileage goal for cycling across the summer.
