On 4 January 2021 new restrictions came into place which will impact group riding.
The Government guidance is that you must not leave or be outside of your home except where necessary.
You may leave the home for a select number of reasons including exercising with your household (or support bubble) or one other person. NB – ‘riding with someone not in your household or support bubble’ means just one pair or riders, not a household and one other rider.
This should also be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.
This means that there will be no formal club rides. Members are of course welcome to use the Google sheets or Facebook to arrange any informal paired rides with someone outside of their household / support bubble. But please be mindful to follow the guidance to protect the club’s reputation.
In particular the guidance about ‘not travelling outside of your local area’ which in the guidance is described as the village, town, or part of the city where you live.
Other clubs are suggesting that you should be able to walk back from any point of your ride in case of a mechanical issue etc.
We appreciate how disappointing this is so do encourage people to meet up safely and within guidelines to maintain good physical and mental health. And the club is here for you if you need any help. You are not alone.
