After a long hiatus from racing, a big field of 27 riders turned out, eager to pin on a number and see how they fared against the clock on the Hilly 14 course. A warm pleasant evening welcomed veterans of the series (Tony Wild in his 50th year racing), new riders (welcome Alison Smith), and several youngsters who we’ll no doubt increasingly see imposing themselves on the top of the results.
Fastest on the night and taking the Men’s Hilly Championship was Sam Ward in an impressive 36:23, just 8 seconds ahead of Tom Cullen. Helen Goldthorpe took the Women’s Hilly Championship in 44:51.
Well done to all winners, and all those who ventured out to race. Also thanks to Sheldon for organising, Martin Tallontire for timekeeping, and all the other marshals and volunteers.
Next week is the 10Mile Championship at Walshford. Good luck to those racing.
