A perfect day for a ride, blue sky, no wind and a great route. We climbed over Farnley, up through Stainburn and Braythorn before being rewarded with the fabulous gentle descent down Brackenthwaite Lane to Burn Bridge. The coffee stop at Horticap was lively with discussions along the lines of ” No, I haven’t had my bike serviced, I’ve only had it 10 years” and “A little black thing flew off then my pedal came off”!
It was a great group and we were delighted to welcome new member Debbie on her first ride. A beer in the sunshine at the Fleece finished off a perfect ride.
Really enjoyable ride yesterday on the Social Series Ride yesterday. The weather was glorious and the company great. Set off out of Otley to Arthington climbing Creskeld Lane and through Bramhope. From their headed along the top of the Chevin passing Surprise View and The Royalty. The ride leader then made a mistake in Menston by not going up Bingley Road should have stuck to instinct rather than The Garmin. At the top of Moor Lane found we were 5 instead of 6. Thanks to Kathryn Moncur for supporting me in going back as a pair whilst the rest of the group went onto The Cow and Calf café. We dropped back into Menston and went up Bingley Road and headed back to The Cow and Calf to find that 5 was back to 6. Enjoyed the nice views from The Cow and Calf and a bite to eat. Second incident on the way down The Cow and Calf which some of us only realised once at the bottom. Climbed back up to find the cattle grid had caused a puncture. Inner tube changed with us heading to Askwith and the majority of us heading to Otley. Great ride, lovely weather with fantastic company, what more could be asked for!!!
Just a few from today’s not so gentle, gentle ride! 🤣 Wharfedale Wanderer and beyond!
