Sunday 14th April – Setting off from The Buttercross in Otley 9.00am
One of the most traditional rides to still be running in Yorkshire, a fantastic route to Pocklington and back – 90 miles to be completed in 8 hours.
A good map Is essential to anyone without a knowledge of the area. THERE ARE FEW BRIDGES.
Entries will be accepted on the day at any starting point. Entry fee £2.50 per rider in
advance (see the attached form below), on the line £3.00 per rider – the right change is a great help!
George Herbert Stancer OBE was bom at Pockllngton on 17th April 1878. He became a member of the Yorkshire Road Club in 1898 and remained so until his death in 1962. For 25 years he was secretary andfor 14 years President of the Cyclists’ Touring Club. It Is in memory of this fine Yorkshireman that the GHS rides are promoted annually, on the Sunday near his birthday. There are a number of rides that set off around the county. The highlight of the various start and finishing points of the reliability rides is to visit Burnby Hall in Pocklington.

OTLEY 90 miles in 8 hours
START: 9.00am at The Buttercross, Otley. Route is Pocklington, out via Cawood (Card stamped at bridge), stop at Burnby Hall (card stamped at café). Return via York, Acomb, Wetherby.
FINISH: Otley CC Clubroom -Open 2.30 pm Otley CC Clubroom, left at Chevin Cycles Shop off Leeds Road. A few light refreshments will be waiting for you.
Cut off time is 5.00pm
Cards handed out at start -please bring pen, to be stamped at Cawood and Pocklington (stamp at counter in café at Burnby Hall Gardens).
