It’s been a busy weekend for Otley CC time triallists, competing in two open time trials and the local corsaRosa League.
Claire recorded 28:35 on the triangular shaped sporting course, the event a counting event in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation (YCF) 2018 SpoCo competition. Greg was unfortunately a DNF.
Fastest overall was John Brearley of Squadra RT in 22:52. Sarah Lewthwaite (Team Sportslab) was fastest woman with 25:42.
YCF 2018 SpoCo standings
With one event to go, the Harrogate Nova CC 10 on Saturday 29th September, Claire Jessop lies in 2nd place in the 2018 Women’s YCF SpoCo competition and Helen Goldthorpe in 5th. Current placings courtesy of YCF can be found here.
The following day, Sunday 2nd September, nine Otley riders took part in two different events.
Locally, six of them competed in Event 9 of the corsaRosa League on the flat(ish) V818 which starts and finishes in Ben Rhydding and uses the Burley and Otley bypasses.
Fortunately the sun came out and with little wind some excellent times were recorded.
Fastest of our contingent and fastest Youth was George Radcliffe in 24:53, followed by brother Tom in 26:07.
Recording 26:19, Helen Coutue was fastest Woman, Chris Radcliffe next in 26:37.
Amy Cuthberson finished in 27:45 and Liz Hills in 32:54.
Fastest overall was Russell Brown of Yorkshire Road Club in 22:25.
Thank you to the league sponsors, timekeepers, helpers and marshals and to La Stazione for their hospitality.
corsaRosa League standings
There is one event left (Sunday 16th September) and currently Helen is leading in the AcciaioRosa (steel framed) Standings and George is 2nd placed Youth.
Amy is 4th and Helen 5th in the Women’s Standings, James Cullen highest ranked in the Men’s in 8th place.
Otley CC are 2nd in the Club Ranking behind albaRosa.
Full results and rankings courtesy of the corsaRosa League here.
Further north, three Otley riders were competing in the Cleveland Coureurs 25 mile on the T252/3 course using the A19 based at Crathorne in North Yorkshire.
Joe Howcroft was fastest of the trio with 57:15. James Cullen recorded 58:06 and Tim Howcroft 1:01:36. Sadly, no second counter for the Cullen family, so the Cullen/Howcroft feud was null and void for this event. Next instalment will be the Club 30 Champs on Sunday 9th September.
Fastest overall was Stephen Ayres of Bronte Wheelers in 50:46, Stephen’s ride four days before in our 15 on the A168 obviously not affecting his performance. Fastest woman and 14th overall was Laura Bartlett of a3crg in 55:38.
