TT Round-up. The Good and The Not-So-Good

The Good

Tim Howcroft travelled north on Saturday 15th July to ride the Ferryhill Wheelers CC 25 on the T252/3 course based at Crathorne.

76 riders were on the start sheet but a quarter of those elected not to start. Tim was fortunately not one of those and rode to a 1:00:40, narrowly beaten by son Joe (PH-MS Cycling) who was three seconds faster. Fastest ride of the day was by Steven Guymer of Rapha Cycling Club in 53:45, Karen Taylor of Leeds based ladies racing team Vertex Biemme RT fastest woman in 1:03:48.

Women’s club 10-mile record holder Helen’s time was 24:01. Harry, with sister Eleanor the Mixed Tandem 15-mile record holder, achieved an excellent PB of 22:20.

Fastest overall was Lewis Keighley of Team Bottrill/HSS Hire in 18:46. Hannah Macdonald of Liverpool Century RC was fastest woman in 20:59.

The Not-So-Good

Roadworks on the A168 around Topcliffe have resulted in the cancellation of events, most notably for Otley Cycle Club two promoted by the Yorkshire Cycling Federation, the 50 on Saturday 1st and the 100 on Saturday 15th July.

These events incorporated our 50-mile and 100-mile Championships. The Yorkshire Road Club 50 being held Sunday 10th September has been nominated as a possible replacement for the 50 Champs but sadly there is no suitable replacement for the 100.
