A Championship assortment!

All those calories!

No, not the kind of assortment you want to tuck into when you’ve had a bad day at the office or if you think you deserve a treat after a long hard ride, although why wait ’til then, treat yourself anyway! It’s an assortment of racing including MTBing – and a National Champion! – grasstrack and TTing. And a disappointment in the 50 Champs.

Let’s start with our new National Champion, Emily Middlebrooke. Mini-Flyers Emily, her brother Daniel and Poppy Peacock rode the BSCA National and Yorkshire Regional Mountainbike Championship Sunday 2nd July on the Wuthering Heights of Penistone Hill Country Park near Howarth.

It was back to the Addingham based hilly V810 course on Sunday 2nd July for Round 5 of the corsaRosa League. A headwind on the section from the start to the Skipton bypass made the Hills even tougher and riders were grateful for the wind assisted run from there to the finish.

Andrew Bolton was the fastest Otley rider with 33:01 followed by Dexter Leeming-Sykes in 34:06 and John Barnett in 33:47.

Dissapointingly, the club 50-mile Champs, incorporated into the YCF 50 on Saturday 1st July, didn’t happen as the event was cancelled due to roadworks. It’s hoped that the Championships can be incorporated into another 50-mile event later in the year.
