Off-road antics

Not exactly The Fast Show type of off-roading. Cyclo-cross and ggrasstrack, both bringing success for Otley CC riders, particularly for our Future Stars.


After being rained off the week before, grasstrack returned to Roundhay Park for Round 3 of the 2017 West Riding Track League on Monday 22 June, with a total of 13 Otley riders competing.


In the two Group 3&4 Girls races, Charlotte Chambers had two 3rd places, sister Annie a 4th and a 7th and Amy Hodgkins a 4th and an 8th.

The corresponding Boys Group 3&4 races saw two 2nd places for Jack Wilks and two 3rd places for Daniel Middlebrooke.

The Group 1&2 Girls and Boys enjoyed more Freewheel races, a total of six over the two groups. In the girls, Isobel Wilks took a win and a 2nd, Emily Middlebrooke a 2nd and two 3rds places. For the boys, James Luxton had a 5th and two 6th places and Alex Hodgkins a 5th, a 7th and an 8th.

Freewheel Handicap

Only four races in this series for Groups 3&4 and 1&2 Girls and Boys.

In the 3&4 Girls, Amy Hodgkins was 2nd, Annie Chambers 5th and Charlotte Chambers 8th. Jack Wilks was 3rd and Daniel Middlebrooke 4th in the 3&4 Boys.

Isobel Wilks took 4th and Emily Middlebrooke 5th in the 1&2 Girls, whilst in the 1&2 Boys, Alex Hodgkins was 2nd and James Luxton 5th.

Fixed Wheel

Eleanor Hunt took a total of three wins in this series in the Group D Women & Girls, the Women & Girls Sprint and the Women’s Handicap. Eleanor also had a 5th in the Devil and a 5th in the Unknown Distance.

James and Jonathan Allen both had a 3rd place each, James in the Handicap Final, Jonathan in the Unknown Distance. In the Block Handicap, James took 4th, 5th going to Jonathan. James and Jonathan took equal 6th in the Devil.

U10s lining up for their TT

U10 and U12 boys in action


Bingley’s Myrtle Park was the venue for Round 3 of the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Association Summer Series, held Wednesday 24 May.

In the U14 event, Dexter Leeming-Sykes (MU14) took 3rd place overall and 3rd in his category.

Sam Howcroft (MU16) was 64th overall, 8th in his category, and James Cullen (MV50) 110th overall and 16th in his category in the Over 14 event.
