Some Otley CC members, in between watching the fantastic Tour de Yorkshire and despite the poor weather, have been busy time-trailing over the Bank Holiday weekend in the corsaRosa inter-club league and in CTT open events.
On Saturday 30 April Ilkley CC held their 10-mile TT on the V212 course based near Boroughbridge, the same course OCC used for their 10 earlier in the month. Both events are part of the Yorkshire annual SpoCo (sporting courses) competition, run by the Yorkshire Cycling Federation.
Representing OCC were Gareth Metcalffe and Claire Jessop who recorded 23:57 and 28:14 respectively.
Sunday 1st May saw the first event in the corsaRosa league, a 10-mile hilly TT on the V810 course based around Addingham.
Christine Thwaite, who represented OCC at the event, reports the conditions were dull and cool, but dry. They didn’t get the forecast tailwind to help up the hills on the A59 – does that ever happen! – but the early start made for quieter roads. A tough course but a fun and friendly event.
Times for OCC riders were:
James Cullen 32:05
Chris Radcliffe 32:11
Sophie Hewitson 35:06
Liz Hills 38:32
Christine Thwaite 39:03
The fastest time overall was 27:57 by Ben Jacobs of albaRosa. Full results can be viewed via the corsaRosa Facebook page – see this link. Click on the Top 10 and Event 1 tabs for full details.
Afterwards, riders assembled at La Stazione cafe bar in Ilkley for refreshments. Thanks are due to all who turned out to help at the event. It really couldn’t happen without them.
The Jessops ventured further afield on Bank Holiday Monday, Claire riding on the eastern B10/43 course between Harleston and Bungay in a 10-mile TT organised by Lowestoft based VC Baracchi and recording a 27.10.
