Cycling is fun on your own but with two people you can have twice as much fun! OCC members discovered this on Saturday 2nd April as we gathered in Ripley at 10.00 and got fitted out with Tandems from Times Two Tandems who are based in Guiseley.
There were four very suspicious looking club members who were dressed in a French Onion Seller/Robber Outfit with fetching eye masks! This added to the levels of fun as we wobbled our way along the fantastic Greenway to Knaresborough.
A short stop in Knaresborough for a well deserved coffee after navigating four sets of traffic lights, with busy traffic and a bit of a hill start! After this it was rolling hills to Boroughbridge. One of the tandems had a bit of a mechanical issue with a crank so sadly we had to leave Sarah and Pellar at the beautiful Bluebell Arms pub in Arkendale – opposite the HQ for our Open Time Trials if you want to do some marshalling and combine it with a lovely lunch!! They got transported back to Ripley by Times Two Tandem and we hope they will come on our next adventure.
We continued on the back roads to Boroughbridge where lunch in the Crown hotel was an opportunity to swap tandem tales. Then onto the flatter roads to Bishop Monkton and back to Ripley. “What a fantastic day and another cycling experience”
The next tandem day is planned for Saturday 11th June – there are 4 tandems available, £54 each, to book or for further details :contact firstname.lastname@example.org
