Triangle 12 – Where is everyone?

Triangle Time Trial Series 2017

Only one event this week, the usual testing 12 1/2 round the Pool Triangle itself.

Maybe it was standing in the wet and cold the night before watching the annual Otley Cycle Races or maybe the threat of poor weather again but only 13 riders – it should have been 14 but unfortunately James Cullen punctured before the start – pounded the usual roads Thursday 29th June. But those who didn’t turn up – excluding of course those who marshalled instead of riding – missed yet another good night, warm and with very little wind.

With a superb ride of 27:42, equalling his PB from 5 years ago, and actually owing 1:17 handicap, Sam Ward took the maximum 6 points. Sam also now has the fastest ride by an Otley rider round the Triangle in the 2017 series. A very excited Tony Wild took 5 points and Sheldon Howcroft 4. Steve Broadley added to his tally with 3 points, Stuart Newbould 2 and Claire Jessop, who the previous week had ridden to a Triangle PB, took the final point with a time only 1 second slower than than that PB.

It was also good to see James Allen back, resplendent on his new bike, after his incident during the 25 Champs two weeks earlier.
