Lizzie Crowned Queen Of The Yorkshire Hills

The club were out in force all along the route of the Tour de Yorkshire 2017, hoping that everything would fall in to place for a Lizzie win. The TV cameras were working this year and flashes of Otley blue could be seen from start to finish. The iconic Cote de Lofthouse was the start of a winning move by Lizzie and her team mates, who had been aggressive right from the start, an army of club members cheered her up the hill!

The decisive point of the race was outside Harrogate with 14km still to race. Brian Keighley said, “It was so exciting to be on the roadside to see her break away and ride for the win.”

It was a nervous watch for the large group of mini-flyers who were assembled on the finishing straight but nerves gave way to pure joy as Lizzie passed with arms raised and soloed across the finish line, nearly a minute in front of the chasing pack and claimed victory.

As Lizzie collected her prizes, including a giant Yorkshire pudding trophy, the minis met her Boels-Dolmans team mates and had photos taken with them.
