Coaching Needs You!

At Otley Cycle Club we are very passionate about our coaching.
In the past few years we have gone from strength-to-strength increasing the number of participants each year, with the last two years having up to 80 riders!
For 2017 we only have space for up to 50 riders. This is due to some of our coaching team moving on and having other commitments on a Friday evening. Obviously this is a disappointment and we want to be able to accept more riders. For us to be able to take a higher number we need your help and therefore have some ‘vacancies’.

We are looking for the following;

Coaches
We are looking to add new coaches to our team. Want to be involved with the future of cycling? Then why not become a qualified coach! Ideal for enthusiastic parents or somebody wanting to get more involved and help produce the next World or Olympic Champion! This role does involve some commitment but is very rewarding. This is the role that allows us to take more riders, for each extra coach we can take up to 12 more children.

Coaching Assistants (16+ one per group)
Helping our existing team of coaches. Ideal for a parent or older sibling who attends most weeks. This position won’t allow us to take more riders but will allow us to deliver a better session and keep the riders moving.

What do you need to do?

Coaches – You would need to undertake a 3-day coaching course, the current dates are Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd April followed by Sat 15th July. All in Manchester. Be DBS checked, pass a first aid course & be committed. The cost of the course is considerable, OCC will cover the cost of the course but would be looking for at least a 3 year commitment in return.

Assistants – Be willing to help on a Friday evening.

What can we give you in return?

All our coaching team are volunteers and don’t get paid. There are some benefits, you would get British Cycling Level 2 Coaching Certificate, DBS Check, First Aid Certificate, British Cycling Silver Membership, ‘Club Coach’ clothing and one free child place per term at coaching.

Assistants would get a priority place at coaching for the following term.
