Our rides will be heading north towards the beautiful reservoirs of Fewston and Thruscross or to the village of North Rigton, just past Armscliffe Cragg. With the beauty of late autumn falling leaves these will be lovely rides. Remember to wrap up warm as it is cold on the tops and get those mudguards out to protect your bike and your biking friends! We need volunteers to lead these rides so let Christine Bell know if you can help
Gentle Ride: North Rigton, Square and Compass 16 Miles
This route starts with a gentle ride along Pool road and then gradually ascends up to Armscliffe Cragg stopping at the Square and Compass for coffee, scones and smarties. The return leg is mainly descending down to Otley, with a short climb up to Farnley, This climb will have plenty of stops to appreciate the views.
This is a perfect ride if you have not done much hill climbing before and are worried you might be too slow. This ride will be supportive and encouraging and together we will get up that hill with smiles on our faces!

Stretching Ride: Washburn Heritage Centre, Fewston 21 Miles
This is ride will really test out your climbing legs and it will feel much longer than 21 miles! We start with the climb up to Farnley and then a sharp descent to the Trout Farm. A steady climb brings the route to the top of the ridge with views to Otley on the left and Harrogate on the right. After a short climb on the main road to Harrogate we take a left along Norwood Lane towards Fewston. This road can be very challenging in a head wind so it is a good time for you to practice your “drafting skills” by riding in a compact group.
After the coffee stop at the lovely Washburn Heritage Centre (CASH ONLY!!!) the route goes to the top of the Snowden Ridge via Timble village. It is then a lovely long descent back into Otley http://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/6545271

Strenuous – Upper Cobby Syke Farm Café, 27 Miles
This is probably one of our most strenuous rides but it is also the most beautiful, with stunning moorland views and two reservoirs to view .
The ride starts with a climb up to Snowden and then a pointless loop to enjoy more hills before crossing the main road to take a quiet back road to to Thruscross Reservoir. There is a very challenging hill climb, which will require your climbing legs and your lowest gear. This is followed by a descent to view the reservoir, a great photo stop and chance to chat. A further climb and a mildly flat stretch of road returns us to the main road and from there we take a right hand turn to the Farm Shop/Cafe. They offer a good range of snacks and a very challenging hill climb with some amazing views!
The return leg will take in views of Fewston Reservoir and the route takes a detour via the gated road to give you a very strenuous work out (a quicker return leg may be taken)
