Now that the very successful inaugural corsaRosa League has finished it was down to the pleasurable business of handing out the awards Sunday 18th September, presented by series organiser Gavin McIntosh and hosted by La Stazione cafe bar in Ilkley.
The sun shone and everyone had a great time. Sophie Hewitson and Gary Purchon were amongst the Otley CC riders at the presentation and have kindly given their thoughts on the league and on the awards breakfast.
‘It was a great event and especially lovely for me to see everyone again before going back to Sheffield the day after to start my final year at university. I really enjoyed the corsaRosa series, not only was it fantastic training but a great platform to meet like minded cyclists in the area. The breakfast awards was a lovely finish to a great summer riding around the Yorkshire Dales for me with the added bonus of coming second lady in the league! Gavin did an excellent job and I hope to return next year.’
‘The corsaRosa awards breakfast was a fab way to end the season! There must have been about 30 there when I arrived & coffee & bacon butty was sorted straight away by the great staff at the cafe.
Gavin made a great speech & presented some fantastic trophies to the thoroughly deserved winners! I thought the men’s winner Tom made a great speech thanking Gavin for all his efforts too.
Was great seeing everyone there and hopefully, if I loose some weight, I can go a bit faster next year.
Oh and the jerseys are ace!’

As both Sophie and Gary have alluded to, Gavin McIntosh did a fantastic job throughout the series and quite rightly is to be applauded for his hard work. Thanks Gav! And not forgetting support from Woodrup Cycles, Spokesman Cycle Clothing, Spirit Cycling, Sportive HQ, La Stazione, the riders and last but not least all those who have helped out at each race to ensure all runs smoothly.
