‘It’s all hills!’ said Gary Purchon of his first ride on the the V810 course on which event 3 of the corsaRosa league was held Sunday 29th May. And he’s not wrong, the course providing riders with a testing ride within its 10 miles.
Four hardy riders represented Otley CC this week. Along with Gary, who recorde a time of 33:28 were Sophie Hewitson (34:34, an improvement of 32 seconds from event 1), Christine Thwaite (36:39, a big 2:24 improvement, with something left in the tank according to Christine) and Liz Hills (36:50, another big improvement of 1:42).
Fastest overall on the day was Tom van Ross of Yorkshire Road Club in 26:48 with Lindsay Atkinson-Wright of albaRosa fastest woman in 32:48. Sarah Lewthwaite of East Bradford CC who unfortunately had an off reports back that she’s thankfully not broken anything but has some impressive road rash.
Organiser Gavin McIntosh again thanks everyone who supports the event. It really couldn’t happen without them and hats off to them all. Gavin also reports ‘Everything is going exactly as hoped – fierce and friendly competition, with everyone pushing themselves to their limits and hopefully new friendships being formed.’
A fuller report can be seen on the corsaRosa Facebook page. Full results and standings can be found here. The next event is Sunday 12th June.
Thank you to Liz Hills for the prompt on the results and to Eamon O’Doherty for use of the photographs.
