Otley Cycle Clup President Peter Middlebrooke is looking for volunteers to help out at a BSCA (British Schools Cycling Association) event in May. Please see Peter’s message below. (Information on BSCA can be found in this link http://www.bsca.org.uk/)
“It’s the BSCA Yorkshire Circuit Race Championships on Saturday 14th May at Richard Dunn Sports Center in Bradford.
The races are open to all junior riders (from 4 year olds in the under 7’s race to over 15’s in the oldest group). You can enter using this form BSCA entry Regional Circuit Race 2016 Bradford and either get the entry to me before Monday 9th May (preferred) or can enter on the line. This is a great opportunity for our junior riders to start some racing activities.
If racing is not your thing, why not come along and support our Otley riders competing to become Yorkshire Champion, or come along and help out on the day, there are lots of tasks that I will need help with and all help will be much appreciated.
Otley CC are organising this event and we need helpers on the day. All of the pre event administration will be covered, but on the day there are a number of important jobs to do, without anybody to help with these tasks the event will not be able to run.
BSCA (British Schools Cycling Association) is a completely volunteer-run organisation, with event organisers running the events for the benefit of the young riders, and as such entry fees are there purely to cover the cost of the venue and insurances, so I’m looking for some sponsorship to be able to provide some small prizes to the winners, if you or anybody that you know would be willing to help out with this please let me know.
I’m hoping that members of the club and parents of kids that come to coaching can help me out here. I need helpers to do the jobs on the following list:
5 x Marshalls
2 x Rider Registration
2 x Bike and Gear Checks
2 x Race Starters
2 x Finish Line Judges
The racing starts at 2.00pm, with helpers needed from 1.00pm to assist with setting up and signing on the riders etc. I expect the races to be completed by 4.30pm.
Of course you may already be there with your children to take part in the races, if so please see the attached entry form for further details. And perhaps you could lend a hand as well?
If I can get enough helpers and we can do a bit of job sharing, then hopefully I’ll only be asking of a couple of hours of your time.
This event is part of Otley CC’s Tour De France legacy, helping to encourage the next generation of Bradleys, Lizzies and Froomes, so if you can please help out.
Please let me know if you can help in any way.
